While there's no getting around the occasional -- or not-so-occasional -- transport strike, there was some good news about public transport in Paris this week. The RATP is rolling out extra bus and métro service [fr] over the next several months. The highlights: -the addition of 10% more service on line 13 (that's 42 extra trains per day) -significant expansion of evening and Sunday bus service, especially for lines serving the suburbs -two new bus lines and seven new Noctilien lines -the extension of métro service to run an hour later on Saturday nights (woo-hoo!) And of course, the tramway line T3 is set to open in December. We've noted before that métro-bus transfers [fr] and automation of line 1 [fr] are supposed to be coming, but apparently we still have to wait for those. As long as we're talking about the métro, Parisist would like to take this opportunity to revisit [fr] the bunny in pajamas [fr]. The bunny warns speakers of all the other languages what will happen if they trap their hands in the doors (here's a hilarious real-life version of what will happen), but he merely warns English speakers not to trap their hands in the doors. Maybe it's an innocent oversight, but maybe... just maybe... the bunny is a mean bunny and wants monolingual anglophone tourists to get their hands caught in the doors. Yes? All right, probably not. We'll take off our tinfoil hat now. Photos by jim_moore and roboppy on flickr.
