Achilles’ final performance after completing his studies with Mark Lawrence (of the San Francisco Symphony) at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Achilles won the 2003 International Trombone Association Competition held in Helsinki, Finland with his performance of the Grondahl Trombone Concerto. He also walked away with the Larry Wiehe prize, and won the Conservatory’s 2004 Concerto Competition. The MP3 included below was the last piece played at his recital, and although not really a part of his “official” program, it was a fun way to end the night with a full trombone section performing Arthur Pryor’s Blue Bells of Scotland. Also, we’d like to wish Achilles well on his continued studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia.
