As most of you know I was in the Army, it s how Glenna and I met, and I still have the upmost respect for the armed forces. Especialy groups like the Seals, Rangers, SF, etc. It takes a certain kind of person to want to and be able to make it through the training. For every 10 that volunter to be a Seal, 7-8 will not make it . I ve the privlage of meeting some Seals, some Rangers, even some MI6 fellows ..and I am glad there are those who are still willing to join the military. It s not an easy life, I know .I still think about my time and some things I will never forget I hope you enjoy this brief glimpse, these fellows are in week 2, they were training mid day, in the hot sun, running to the ocean, paddling out to sea, coming back in over the rocks and waves, in full uniform (when those things get wet, they weigh a ton) , carring the boat which weighs .what must feel like a ton, over their heads, it can t touch their heads, btw, any infranction, any deviation and you are corrected .all this while people are watching .tough is too mild a word for how that must feel ..but still they did it, over and over again for hours ..it makes me look at my fat gut and feel guilty ]]> Tue, 22 Jul 2008 01:50:43 -0400 The Best of the Best 24954-10654202 http://www.mefeedia.com/entry/jump/10654202/

On our way up the California coast together, we made this video while being attacked by the future roadkill of the beautifully scenic pacific coast highway. iPod Last February Tom Huck, printmaker extraordinaire, called me up and begged and pleaded with me to come cover this event of print makers from around the country who had converged on the Contemporary Art Museum to sell prints and socialize. I had already planned to shoot another event that very night but figured that I could squeeze in about an hour at this show before I hit the other event. I m glad I did, because this was a party like no other. Complete with wild art and poetry and music there were even half nude performance artists from Estonia. iPod This is the second time around on Lo-Fi Saint Louis for the Boss Martians. The first time was back in 2005 at the now defunct Little Nicky s Gearbox. That was when we captured an early performance of Hey Hey Yeah Yeah which is now famous as the soundtrack for an E-Trade commercial that ran during the Super Bowl. Things are going well for the band now. They are getting ready to release a new record (Pressure in the S.O.D.O.) and are touring extensively through the summer and in to next year behind it. I am a big history buff and when I found out that Gettysburg was just a couple of hours away from Jay and Ryanne s, well I just had to go. It is an interesting place, not at all what I was expecting. It had been a long time since I had even read about the Civil War. But being there .looking at the grounds, looking at all the monuments it really does speak to you. I think for most of us (in America) the Civil War is just something so very far away, something to just read about in a book. It means much more to me now that I have been to that hallowed place.
