Mefeedia Video Search is now available. Give it a whirl and let us know what you think - all you have to do is use the search box in the upper right side of the home page or in the header of any subsequent page. A brief summary:
A Quality Index, Searching 15,000+ Video Websites
Videos from many different, highly relevant, and high quality sources is the key to powerful video search. Indexing the best video available from many, many sources is of utmost importance in helping users find the video that they will be interested in. Number of video websites indexed and searched, plus number of video feeds, is the metric we use as a barometer for video search coverage. With 15,000 video websites searched, Mefeedia helps users find video from:
- Major Video Sharing sites (YouTube, DailyMotion, Metacafe, Blip, Veoh, and many more)
- Web Series Sites (AllorNots, Quarterlife, BoingBoing TV, 60 Frames series, Next New Networks series, etc.)
- Video Blogs (Steve Garfield, Ryan Is Hungry, etc.)
- TV Sites (Hulu, CBS, ABC, and others)
- News Sites (CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, CBS News, etc.)
- Music Sites (Imeem and others)
Find Videos, Find Shows
We are featuring a number of options to narrow your results to find exactly what you are looking for:
- By Date
- By Related Terms
- By Show
- By Vertical Category (TV, Music, Podcasts)

Viewer Experience
In addition to Video Search, we are launching a new AJAX Player that will enable you to watch each search result in succession. Just click on the thumbnail of the video you want to start with, and the player will launch. The player supports over 300 different players from the thousands of video websites that we index.
Vertical Video Search: TV, Music, Podcasts
Our first vertical searches are also being launched simultaneously: TV, Music, and Podcasts. TV - TV Search allows you to quickly find your favorite TV Shows (mainly U.S. TV to begin with) from the major networks to cable providers.
Music - Search across popular Music sites such as Imeem.com - find music playlists, music videos, and songs from your favorite artists.
Podcasts - Find audio podcasts from mainstream media, enthusiasts, and many others. Many podcasts that are part of the iTunes directory are here and more. Or you can join mefeedia, and import your iTunes podcasts for easy, web-based management of your iTunes podcast subscriptions.
Beta
We are in Beta with Video Search - mainly, because we are still working on indexing even more video! We are extremely pleased to have an extensive search engine that covers so many different video sites and are looking to continually improve it. We look forward to your feedback - just post to the Mefeedia users group. Enjoy the new video search - we hope you find some video worth watching! See more in:mefeedia, search, video search

Generate is the latest online video studio to receive funding - a $6M Series A round - another in a list of original online video studios. Generate already has a number of series under its belt, including “Pink” The Series. These studios are producing new web content at a very rapid rate, leveraging the web and its easy and quick distribution mechanisms to reach large audiences (including here at Mefeedia.com). The interesting part of Generate is the additional focus on talent management, which not many other web studios are venturing into. Let’s hope they form tighter bonds than another video startup that focused on creators - Revver. Congrats to Generate for closing the round.

Don Reisinger posted a CES 2008 roundup over at Newteevee recently. His overall grades were mostly in the C and D range. Why is this? In a year where online video is extremely relevant, particularly since many of the major announcements concerned getting TV onto the web or online video onto TV, why weren’t there more announcements that were truly “revolutionary”? Many thoughts and theories come to mind - but rather then speculate, here is what Mefeedia would like to happen by next year’s CES:
An easy way to watch all of my subscribed shows and collected videos on my TV, computer, Nintendo Wii, and iPhone - no matter where those videos are hosted or what formats they come in.
Why can’t I just point my TiVo / Wii / iPhone / iTunes / Miro / TV to this:
http://www.mefeedia.com/user/franks/queue/rss/
and click “Play”?
The entire experience needs to be easier. It is what consumers want - anytime, anywhere access to anything. Here’s to making it happen in 2008 (we are already there for a few of those devices)!

YouTube has dominated the online video scene in 2007 - the numbers just don’t lie. Even though there has been a huge expansion of YouTube audience, there is also a growing amount of dissension within the YouTube community versus YouTube itself.
Over the past few months, we have been closely watching some of the most viewed videos coming out of YouTube - and there have been quite a large number of YouTube community members sending in videos explaining how unhappy they are - here is a sampling from the Most Viewed Videos Daily feed from YouTube:
None of these really surprised me - particularly since YouTube is trying to turn the corner in terms of monetization. However, this video from the Phillip DeFranco Show - who is a YouTube Partner and is often in the Most Viewed Videos of the day - put out this video (ignore the title and thumbnail for a minute) where Phillip basically says people should be checking out Revver.
2008 should be interesting to see how YouTube is able to hold their position at the top - particularly when the community itself is starting to feel somewhat alienated and the number of options (such as Revver and Mefeedia.com) become more robust and plentiful with content and community.

The “year in review” blog posts and playlists are coming in. I am going to use this blog post to summarize the summaries of 2007 in online video, and (probably) do a summary myself.
Apple - Video podcasting:
Apple iTunes Best NEW Video podcasts of 2007
Apple iTunes best CLASSIC Video podcasts of 2007
Blogs
R/W Web and Last100 - Internet TV Year in Review for 2007 - this review hits upon some of the main points. Great review.
Mainstream Coverage
Time - The Year of Them - meaning mainstream media, or rather, Them and You is in the midst of convergence.

We are pleased to announce revamped our tag pages for an even more effective video meme that brings in video from over 15,000 video websites. A few of the highlights:
- Each tag page now displays the shows that have posted a video with that tag.
- New Widget: Each tag now has a Flickr-like “video tag stream” widget that you can post to your blog.
- New duplicates algorithm - we are pecking out a lot more duplicates.
- Nice User icons of mefeedians using that tag.
- Improved tags RSS - each feed now includes more metadata and MediaRSS tags.
See the Navlopomo07 blog post for a sample screen shot of the new widget.
As always, email frank at mefeedia dot com if you have any questions. Enjoy the new updates!
